Two Families Now: Effective Parenting during Separation and Divorce
Beginning November 2009, IRIS Media will be conducting an evaluation study of a program designed for parents during and after separation and/or divorce.

Over one million children in the United States experience parental divorce each year and the effect on their health can be profound. Compared to non-divorced families, children from divorced families show a two-to-three-fold increase in risk for psychological and behavioral problems including school drop out, early sexual activity, unemployment, substance abuse, delinquency and involvement with deviant peers. These difficulties can persist into adulthood.
Fortunately, research has shown that certain factors protect children from these effects. These factors include reductions in parenting stress and co-parent conflict, and strengthening parenting with monitoring, routines and consistency.
Two Families Now: Effective Parenting during Separation and Divorce* is an online multimedia parent education program that is designed to teach parents how to protect their children from the stresses of divorce. Study participants can receive up to $150 for their time.
