IRIS Media Products

Research Summary

Managing Non-Compliance is based on best practices in the field, research conducted at University of Oregon OSEP Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support, and other academic institutions. Research surveys have shown that knowing how to effectively handle non-compliant student behaviors is a significant concern for teachers. The three-step procedure presented in this program is a research-based strategy designed to extinguish problem behavior while establishing cooperative positive behavior to replace it. To design a program that accurately reflects the implications of research in the field, Dr. Colvin worked closely with a team of IRIS Media program developers to produce realistic vignettes showing common noncompliant behaviors and effective strategies to correct them, while also encouraging cooperation.
